Ski Hall of Fame Induction Soirée

October 19th, 2024,
Main Pavilion, Sommet Saint-Sauveur

The Ski Hall of Fame Induction Soirée is an annual event that raises funds to support the mission of the Laurentian Ski Museum. The evening took the form of a cocktail reception, providing an opportunity to meet and chat with leading figures from the world of skiing.

More than 275 guests were honoured by the presence of our honorary co-presidents, Lucile Wheeler and Nancy Greene (by Zoom), as well as Saint-Sauveur native Jocelyne Cazin, former co-host of the popular TVA programme J.E., who acted as spokesperson for the event.

The following athletes were inducted into the Hall of Fame during the evening:

  • Maxime, Chloé and Justine Dufour-Lapointe, great freestyle skiing champions – moguls, presented by Hall of Fame members Marie-Claude Asselin, Jean-Luc Brassard and Michel Daigle.
  • Mélanie Turgeon, world downhill champion in St-Moritz in 2003, presented by Erik Guay.
  • Sharon and Shirley Firth, pioneers of cross-country skiing and the first aboriginal women to represent Canada at the Olympic Games, inducted by Pierre Harvey.

Tribute to Canadian Women in Skiing

A more general tribute was also paid to a number of other women who have left their mark on skiing in Quebec and Canada. Eight roll-up style banners were displayed during the evening, and for the next 5 months in the main hall of the Musée du ski des Laurentides.
