An immersive history of skiing in the Laurentians

A lively, interactive, four-season museum project

Discover the fascinating history of skiing in the Laurentians through an immersive museum experience accessible to all audiences. The exhibition To Your Skis! A History of the Laurentians combines heritage, technology and emotion to plunge visitors into the heart of a sporting and cultural story that is unique in Canada.

innovaTIVE MUSEOLOGY

The project incorporates tailor-made immersive technological devices like the following

Ski Descent Simulator

The exhibition experience ends on a unique module we had built specifically for our museum. Visitors can experience the intensity of a ski descent in a dynamic interactive unit by simply inserting their face into the module and letting the adrenalin rush through them as they ski down a mountain.

Dynamic projections

A series of projectors placed in specific positions throughout the space provide a unique visual environment by projecting dynamic animations on the walls, creating an enveloping and lively indoor atmosphere you won’t find anywhere else in the world.

Touchscreens

A first touchscreen terminal features an interactive map of the Laurentians where you will find a census of all the ski sites that have existed or are still active in the region. By clicking on them, you can read more on specific ski sites.

A second tactile device provides visitors digital access to our Hall of Fame. Ranked alphabetically or by year of induction, you can read all about our inductees and their achievements, from the creation of the HOF in 1982 to the most recent inductees.
