Born in Montreal, Quebec in 1927, Marvin « Mickey » Stein was a remarkable skier. In his younger days, he participated actively with the Laurentian Ski Patrol. In 1959, he was the founder and the director of the Mont-Habitant (Saint-Sauveur, Quebec) ski resort. He is the one who introduced night skiing in the Laurentians, at Mont-Habitant. Also, he was a founder and a Director of the Laurentian Ski Area Association. He was inducted in the Hall of Fame of the Laurentian Ski Museum in 1984.
