Resident of Val David in the Laurentians, Gilles Parent was the founder of the  Association des stations de ski de fond du Québec . He is, rare fear for a Canadian, certified mountain guide in Swiss, Europe. He wrote and produced two tv shows about skiing and Alps Mountains:  La grande aventure du ski  and  Les sommets de la gloire about 10 of the famous Alps stations.
