Born at Montreal in 1962, Marie-Claude Asselin was the Canadian Freestyle Champion from 1977 to 1983. She was the North American Freestyle Champion in 1980. She also won the World Champion Aerials from 1981 to 1983. She was World Combined Champion in 1981 and in 1982. In 1981, she was named Canadian Francophone Athlete of the Year. In 1983, she was named Canadian Athlete of the Year under 20 years old.
