One of the first women to be a sports journalist.
Inducted in 1996

Myrtle Cook was a pioneer ski journalist and covered skiing competitions and the ski scene generally for more than 39 years, from 1929 to 1967. A former track and field star she won over 90 Championship medals including an Olympic Gold medal in the women’s 400 metre relay at the 1928 Olympics in Amsterdam. Myrtle joined The Montreal star in 1929 becoming one of Canada’s first female sports reporters. Her beat included, among other sports, skiing. She was in fact the star’s ski editor until her retirement in 1967.
