Père Marcel de la Sablonnière*
(1918 - 1998)
Founder of the first ski and winter sports fair in Montreal. Implicated in the organisation of sports associations and competitions.

In 1951, the Père Marcel de la Sablonnière co-founded the Club de ski de l’Immaculée-Conception. In 1962, he opened the Auberge du P’tit-Bonheur at Lac Quenouilles, now a 1,700 acre estate with 45 kilometres of crosscountry ski trails. The year after, he created the first Montreal ski show “Salon Ski pour Tous”. In the late 70s – early 80s the P’tit-Bonheur Ski Marathon, that he founded, attracted nearly 1,000 skiers. He operated the Foyer du Skieur on the North slopes of Mont-Tremblant between 1971 and 1991. He was the VP of the Canadian Olympic Association and « chef de mission » for the Canadian delegation at the Lake Placid Olympics in 1980.
