One of the first true modern ski pioneers. Nicknamed "l'intrépide”.

One of the true pioneers of early (modern) skiing, Viateur Cousineau was both a ski teacher and a competitor. This native of Sainte-Adele became the 1940 Canadian all-around ski champion which involved slalom, downhill, jumping and cross-country. Winner of the Quebecc-Kandahar and nicknamed “l’intrépide” he first drew attention in 1938 when he skied 225 miles between Val-d’Or and Mont-Laurier.
